Moist Feeds

Moist Feeds

Moist Feeds such as Eornagold and Brewers Grains are very palatable and high in energy and protein.

Farmers are turning their attention to new ways to reduce the cost of production on farm. Central to this is home produced and alternative feeds and the cost of production is one area the farmer can influence. So what are the main alternative feed options available to farmers?

Moist Feeds such as Eornagold and Brewers Grains are very palatable and high in energy and protein. Both can be fed to most livestock in a wide range of feeding situations. Moist feeds reduce daily feed costs while at the same time increasing performance and herd health. Ideally, Eornagold is suitable for feeding with barley to maximize animal performance and feed value.

Liquid feeds such as Spey and Pot Ale Syrup are a popular choice among farmers. Syrup provides a high protein, high oil feed which is very palatable and very cost effective. Syrup is generally included in diets at 2kg per head in intensive diets and for dry cows 2kg of syrup plus straw is a common diet. On farm storage is very important as syrup is delivered in a minimum of 12t lots.
