EORNASYRUP is a co-product of the manufacture of whiskey. EornaSyrup comprises mainly of yeast cells and residues from malted barley after alcohol is distilled off the fermented wort by the high temperature in the copper stills.

Feeding Rates

Dairy Cows: Can be fed in diet feeders; in concentrated mixes or trough feeders with maximum levels being 3.5-5kg/hd/day

Beef Cattle: Flexible in the way it may be offered with maximum feed rates being:

Young stock 0-1kg/hd/day

Stores 2-3kg/hd/day

Finisher 4-5kg/hd/day

Suckler Cattle: Has successfully been used as the sole ‘concentrate’ feed for incalf suckler cows on a straw diet. Additional energy may be required after calving

Handling & storage

Eornasyrup is delivered in bulk liquid tankers. Tanks should be built to hold and dispatch bulk liquids. They should be cleaned out regularly to prevent a build-up of sediment. 4 inch diameter pipework is adequate.

Handling & Storage

Spey Syrup is delivered in 29 tonne bulk tankers and is available all year round. Tanks should be built to hold and dispatch bulk liquids. They should be well maintained and cleaned out regularly to prevent the build-up of sediment. A 4 inch diameter pipe work is adequate to handle Spey Syrup.

Beef Cattle: Up to 10% can be included in beef diets depending on the nature of other feeds in the mix and subsequent storage facilities for the finished ration

Young Stock: Up to 10% of molasses can be safely included in young stock diets from four weeks of age

Handling & Storage

Delivered in bulk liquid tankers with discounts available for full artic loads. Tanks should be built to hold and dispatch bulk liquids and they should be cleaned out from time to time to ensure no build-up of sediment. 4 inch diameter pipework is adequate. Tanks need to be located and equipped so that filling them can be carried out in safe conditions and surroundings.
